Neurohr/Sandifer Family Fun Day!

Saturday we had a family fun day with some of Jeremy's family. The cousins spent the day out on the lake tubing, swimming, and wake boarding while the "grown-ups" and Tate stayed behind at my house and relaxed. It was a blast!

When we got back to the house we grilled burgers and hotdogs (and by we, I mean Jeremy! Who by the way did a great job!). All the food was sooo yummy! After we ate Tyler wanted to play some dress up and play in my room. She's so funny! Some of my favorite quotes from Tyler:

1. Kendall: Pet Beckett softly we don't want to hurt him.
Tyler: Yep, we don't want to hurt him. That would make him mad and he would go woof. He would be like a bear and a cricket, they're mad. No, not crickets...
spiders! Bears and spiders are mad!

2. Kendall: Let's go in the other room.
Tyler: Why?
Kendall: Cause Rodney needs to change clothes.
Tyler: Oh my goodness, is he going to be naked???

3. Tyler was looking at a picture of Jeremy kissing me on the cheek and Tyler said to her Mommy: Oh how sweet, he's kissing her. That's beautiful and she's looking at me.

Ha! She's so funny! She's grown up so much in the last few months and I loved being able to spend some time with her yesterday!

And we can't forget about Tate! He's such a sweet baby and always so happy! I didn't realize how much sun me and Jeremy got until I looked at these pictures! We look like lobsters!

Couldn't have asked for a better day!

Almost forgot, Beckett did great too! I was really worried about having that many people over because he can get really anxious around new people, but he was completely fine! He even was good with Tyler and Tate!

Summer Desserts

I came across these summer dessert ideas today and I think I am going to give them a try! I'm definitely not the best cook in the world, but I really like to bake and try out new recipes. The last new dessert I made was Mimosa Cupcakes and they were a hit! I'll post the pictures after make them and see if they look as good!

Mixed-Berry Dutch Baby

· 3 large eggs
· 1/2 teaspoon(s) finely grated lemon zest
· 1/3 cup(s) sugar
· Pinch of salt
· 2/3 cup(s) all-purpose flour
· 2/3 cup(s) milk
· 2 cup(s) raspberries
· 2 cup(s) blackberries
· 4 tablespoon(s) unsalted butter
· Confectioners' sugar, for dusting

Directions

1. Preheat the oven to 425° and heat a 10-inch cast-iron skillet over moderate heat. In a medium bowl, whisk the eggs with the finely grated lemon zest, sugar, and salt until combined. Add the flour and milk and whisk until smooth. Add 1 cup each of the raspberries and blackberries.

2. Melt the butter in the skillet and add the batter, spreading the fruit evenly. Bake in the center of the oven for about 22 minutes, until the edges are browned and puffed and the center is lightly browned in spots. Transfer the skillet to a trivet and dust the Dutch Baby with confectioners' sugar. Cut into wedges and serve with the remaining fresh berries.

Banana-Nutella S'Mores

· 8 whole(s) graham crackers
· 1/4 cup(s) Nutella
· 1/4 cup(s) marshmallow fluff
· 2 small ripe bananas, sliced 1/4-inch thick
· 2 tablespoon(s) chopped salted roasted hazelnuts
· 4 8-inch squares of parchment paper
· 4 12-inch squares of heavy-duty aluminum foil

Directions

1. Light a grill. Spread 4 graham crackers with the Nutella; spread the remaining 4 with marshmallow fluff. Press the bananas onto the Nutella and sprinkle with the hazelnuts. Sandwich the graham crackers together. Wrap them in the parchment paper and then in foil.

2. Grill the s'mores over moderate heat for about 10 minutes, turning once or twice, until the marshmallow fluff is gooey and lightly toasted. Remove the foil, peel back the parchment, and serve.

Mixed Berry Hobo Packs with Grilled Pound Cake

· 1 pound(s) (3 cups) mixed strawberries and blueberries, strawberries halved or quartered if large
· 1 teaspoon(s) finely grated lemon zest
· 1 tablespoon(s) lemon juice
· 1/4 cup(s) sugar
· 3/4 teaspoon(s) cornstarch
· 2 tablespoon(s) unsalted butter, softened
· 4 12-inch squares of heavy-duty aluminum foil
· 4 (1/2-inch-thick) slices of pound cake
· Crème fraîche or vanilla ice cream, for serving

Directions

1. Light a grill. In a medium bowl, combine the strawberries and blueberries with the lemon zest, lemon juice, sugar, and cornstarch. Spoon 1/4 tablespoon of the butter in the center of each sheet of foil and top with the fruit. Bring 2 sides of the foil up over the fruit and fold to form a seam across the top. Fold the remaining 2 sides to seal the hobo packs completely.

2. Grill the hobo packs over moderate heat until the fruit is sizzling, about 10 minutes.

3. Spread the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter on the pound cake and grill on both sides just until toasted, about 1 minute. Transfer to plates. Open the hobo packs and pour the berries and juices over the pound cake. Serve with a dollop of crème fraîche or ice cream.

Happy Baking!!!

Hey Mom look what I can do!!

This morning we took Beckett on a long walk and let him play in the kiddie water park next to our house! He had so much fun. We had a little rest when we got home and then decided to work on some training.

My Mom and Dad brought us over a boxer training book yesterday when they came to meet their granddog. Well the power went out last night for about an hour so it gave me some time to read a little bit of the book and learn some tricks on training our dog. One trick that I've always wanted to teach my dogs was roll-over, but I have never had any luck. So of course I had to try it out with Beckett too. He figured it within just a few tries!

Here's a video of Jeremy teaching Beckett to roll-over! What a smarty pants!

And here's Beckett celebrating his success!

All tuckered out for the mornings events and now taking a nap on Momma's tennis shoes!

We couldn't be happier...

... to introduce our "neu"est member, Beckett!

We are absolutely in love with him. He's a very well trained 2 year old boy. He already knows how to sit, lay, stay, and go into his crate when told. He did great his first night and slept on his bed on the floor next to me the whole night. He only had to get up once to go potty and then went right back to bed.

So far he loves to cuddle, give kisses, chase bugs, and play frisbee! This morning I think he thought Jeremy and I were moving to slow getting out of bed so he went and got his rope toy and made us throw it to him over and over again until we finally got out of bed. It was so cute Jeremy would through it and then he would bring it to me and visa versa back and forth for about 10 minutes! He's such a smart boy! We took him on his first walk this morning too and he did great, he only got distracted a couple times. I think he already knows that we are his mommy and daddy because every few minutes he has to look for us and make sure were still with him. So sweet!

Here's a video of Jer and him playing frisbee! Don't mind my high-pitched voice (I was really excited)! Ha!

Adoption Update Part III

We met another boxer boy this week and he absolutely stole our hearts! He was surrendered by his owners because they felt like they couldn’t give him the home he needed. He’s a little shy and he takes a few minutes to warm up to people, but after he had been in our house for about 10 minutes he was a typical boxer, kissing faces, giving hugs, and the cutest thing of all, chasing a butterfly in the backyard! It was so stinkin adorable and hilarious! Jeremy and I talked it over and it was really hard to make a decision between the two boxers we met because they were both so sweet, but in the end Jeremy told me I could only have one. We choose this handsome guy!

We haven’t decided if we are going to change his name yet or not so we’re going to keep his name a secret until we decide. Tonight and tomorrow we will be hittin up Petsmart like nobody’s business to prepare for our special boy! We are going to get him on Friday and I cannot wait!

I’m sure I will be posting TONS of pictures of him so get ready!

Adoption Update Part II

Good Morning!

We had a very exciting boxer adoption weekend! On Saturday we had our home visit and got to meet our “adoption counselor”, Kristen. I spent the morning cleaning the house from top to bottom. Jeremy thought it was hilarious that I was so nervous. At one point he said to me “Calm down, we’re adopting a dog, not a child”! Ha! I was freaking out a bit! I just wanted to be sure everything was perfect. The actual home visit was a lot less painful then I thought it would be. Kristen came over with her husband and their personal dog, Bismarck (who by the way was sooo stinkin cute!) and they just hung out for a little bit and figured out what we were looking for in a dog. They approved us and let us know that we should be hearing from foster parents soon to set up meet & greets with the boxers we’re interested in. Within about two hours we had already gotten a call from a foster mom wanting to set up a visit with her boxer boy, Camacho!

We got to meet him on Sunday and he was precious! He was found running around in Dallas by himself and was pretty beat up and very malnourished. All of his booboo’s have healed and he has gained all the weight back he needed to. He was a very good boxer and very calm by boxer standards. He really liked Jeremy, they played peek-a-boo in the backyard for a little bit and then he wouldn’t take his eyes off him and followed him around the rest of the time they were at our house. It was so sweet. Camacho is definitely a contender. We should have a couple more meet and greets with fosters this week and I hope we can make a decision by this weekend.

I can’t wait to get our new baby!

25 things about you and your spouse!

Ok, so I stole this from another blog because I thought it was fun, but imitation is the highest form of flattery, right? So it's ok! You should do it too!

♥ What are your middle names?
James & Renee

♥ How long have you been together?
Married 1 year & 17 days

♥ How long did you know each other before you started dating?
2 months

♥ Who asked who out?
ummm... we just started hanging out together one night when we were out with a group of friends and have been glued to each other’s side ever since. Below is a picture of the first time we hung out together!

♥ How old are each of you?
Him = 26; Her = 26

♥ Did you go to the same school?
high school no, college no, grad school yes

♥ Who is the smartest?
Jeremy is definitely the smartest! I have to brag on him, he had a 4.0 in high school and undergrad! Although I did make a couple better grades then him in grad school!

♥ Who is the most sensitive?
Both I guess, but in different ways... Jeremy always wants to talk about everything and I hold it all in.

♥ Where do you eat out most as a couple?
Probably Chipotle, we try to go to lunch together at least once a week and for some reason we always end up going there.

♥ Where is the furthest you two have traveled together as a couple?
Bahamas

♥ Who has the craziest exes?
I’m gonna say Jeremy, but they are probably equal.

♥ Who has the worst temper?
Me definitely. I have to admit I can sometimes be a crazy hormonal girl, but hey it happens to the best of us!

♥ Who does the cooking?
I do all the cooking, but he does all the grilling. Oh and he always does the dishes so I don’t mind at all! I get really excited when he really likes something I make and with Jeremy that’s everything so I enjoy it.

♥ Who is more social?
I would have to say him again, everyone loves him. He could talk to a wall! ;)

♥ Who is the most stubborn?
Me! I can hold a grudge for the longest time, but I’m trying to work on that. Forgive and forget, right??

♥ Who hogs the bed?
Neither. I do tend to make him lay in funky positions when I fall asleep on him though.

♥ Who wakes up earlier?
Me, I wake him up every morning. He’s the sweet morning person so I’m glad I wake him up and not the other way around because I’m a TERROR in the mornin!

♥ Where was your first date?
First time hanging out was at 50/50’s. First real date was at Paloma Blanca.

♥ Who has the bigger family?
Jeremy

♥ Do you get flowers often?
I use to get flowers every Friday, but since we bought the house we have started buying flowers and plants for the yard instead.

♥ How do you spend the holidays?
Traveling all over the place to spend time with my parents, Jeremy’s Mom, and Jeremy’s Dad and Step-mom, it’s exhausting but we love it!

♥ Who is more jealous?
Me, I think I’ve gotten all the bad ones.... :-/

♥ How long did it take to get serious?
Maybe two months, I was pretty hesitant at first but he wouldn’t leave me alone and I finally gave in! ;)

♥ Who eats more?
Him, although sometimes I think I could give him a run for his money!

♥ Who does/did the laundry?
I do, but he has to fold his own socks! Ha! I can’t stand folding socks for some reason...

♥ Who’s better with the computer?
Ohhhh!!! A good one for me! I spend most of my time at work on the computer and messing with excel so I would have to say I’m better at it.

♥ Who drives when you are together?
Jeremy, I make him car sick when I drive :(

Adoption Update!

I was starting to get a little scared that we had been rejected because we hadn't heard anything yet, but when I landed in Miami this morning I had an e-mail from Legacy Boxer Rescue letting us know that they would like to meet us! So we've made it through the first cut and we have a home visit scheduled for Saturday! I'm so nervous and very excited at the same time. I hope they like us!

I was planning on blogging about our 4th of July weekend tonight, but I forgot my camera adapter. I'm sure you will be on the edge of your seat till I get a chance to update, but I'm hoping I will have time to this weekend!

Hope everyone has a great week!
