C25K - Week 6

We finished up week 6 on Saturday! Again, I was super nervous about the day 3 25 minute run! It went pretty good, but I got pretty winded the last 3 or 4 minutes. We live about two miles from a lake and decided to run towards it and the last mile is pretty much all down hill so I attributed my success to the fact that there wasn't a whole lot of effort put in for about 10 minutes. I was still really proud though!

Here are me and my boy before we started! He was excited, can you tell?

We started week 7 today, I was afraid that I wouldn't have enough energy to do 25 minutes after work, but i did even better today than saturday and we didn't do the big down hill! Whoop whoop! From here on out there are no more short runs. This week is all 25 minutes, next week 28, and the final week is 30. The following week after that we will be running the 5K at the Cowtown in Fort Worth! I. Can. Not. Wait!

Hope everyone had a great Monday!

I'm still his little girl....

My Daddy emailed me this advertisment this afternoon.

He said "In case you have a Valentine's party at work. Luv Dad"!

Literally LOL'ed!

Love this and love him! I totally have to make him a hand made Valentine's Day card this year!

Walk On...

As you know I have been using the C25K app on my phone to train for my 5K. Well it allows you to create playlists from your itunes and play them while still hearing the run/walk commands.

I really need music to help me pace myself and keep me going. Most of the time I like to listen to things that I like to dance too, a good beat helps me a lot. Well since I have been doing longer runs I have been listening to music that has a good beat as well as something that encourages me.

I'm soooo embarrassed to say this, but "Walk On" by Reba McEntire is on my play list! HA! It pumps me up! How lame is that!?!?!

I love love love Reba! I blame my mother for making me listen to her constantly throughout my childhood. I don't think the majority of respectable 20-somethings would ever admit to this, but hey it's my blog, so whatev...

Take a listen, she's amazing!

P.S. I promise I don't wear mom jeans while I run!

A Wee Bit of Me

Linking up with Leigh today for "A Wee Bit of Me Wednesday"! So fun!

{one} how tall are you?

I'm 5’5". Wish I was taller... More room to spread out the fat ;)

{two} besides bills, what do you spend most of your money on?

We tend to go out to eat ALOT! I've been trying to cut back for diet purposes, but I've definitely noticed the savings in the bank! Other than that, probably house stuff since we are trying to fill up and decorate our new home.

{three} what are your three favorite websites?
Definitely Blogger! Google Reader is a new fav, so convenient when I'm reading on my phone. Facebook is also a must!

{four} what brand of tennis shoes do you prefer?
Mizuno, they are the best running shoes. Just splurged on a new pair and they are heavenly!

{five} what food can you absolutely not stand to eat?
Pretty much anything hot and spicy minus Mexican food I love me some salsa. I can't stand black pepper either...

{six} How many pairs of jeans do you own?
I think it’s about 8 or 9. Right now I'm only fitting in about 3 of them... :-/ eeeekkkK! Hence the diet mentioned above!

{seven} if you could have any job, what would it be?
I've always wanted to own a cute little home decor boutique in a quaint downtown. I think it would be so fun!

{eight} have you ever ridden in an ambulance?
Nope! Very thankful for that!

{nine} how many pillows do you sleep with?
Two for me and two for the hubs. We have 12 total on the bed when it's made, but they are pretty much always thrown on the floor. I'm pretty sure Beckett sleeps with those...

{ten} on a scale of 1-5, how organized are you?
5. I get a little crazy when things are where they are supposed to be!

okay, your turn!

Top 2 Tuesday

I descided to link up again with the Undomestic Momma to share some of my fav healthy treats!

Lately I've been loving french vanilla yogurt with a crunched up Natures Valley granola bar in it. I'm really weird about food texture so I have a really hard time eating yogurt by itself, so with the added crunch from the granola bar I actually really like it! And... I don't gag when I eat it! HA!

Some of the great benefits of yogurt are lots of vitamin D and Calcium, it's good for your tummy/digestion, and great for helping with weight loss!

Since I have started trying to eat better I have been trying very hard to add more fruits and veggies into my diet. I've been doing really good at having a salad for dinner, but I typically get hungry again for a snack before bed. I usually want something sweet so I've been having an apple and peanut butter! I use to eat this all the time when I was little and I'm glad I started back because I love it! It's very feeling and cures my sweet tooth!

Another snack I can't live without is pickles. I typically crave salty foods and those are not usually very low cal. 1 pickle spear only has 5 calories (dependent on brand of course)! There's definitely a lot of salt in them, but I figure it cures my salty craving without chowing down a whole bag of chips or popcorn!

Happy Tuesday!

C25K - Week 5

Just finished week 5! I actually did the 20 minute run with no problems! I felt awesome to reach the 10 minute mark. When I hit the 15 minute mark I knew I could finish it! With 2 minutes left I was feeling a little winded but I was able to talk and I told Jeremy I could totally do a 5K!

So I think we are going to move up our 5K one month and do the Cowtown in Fort Worth on February 26th! I can't wait!

He's got skillz...

Check out Beckett's moves! He's such a smarty pants!

PS... Don't mind my blue pants and green socks...

And the trick Jeremy taught him... they were both so proud... I couldn't help but let them do it, it just won't be happening anymore...

Happy Friday!

Beckley & Buckett

Also known as Buckley & Beckett!

I have no idea why we decided to name these two such similar names...

At their playdate on Sunday I don't think either of them got called by their correct names once...

I just ended up calling them both bubba or Boobaloo. Which is pretty much what I always call Beckett anyway.

They didn't seem to mind, I'm petty sure after Sunday they will respond to any name that starts with a "B"!

The whole day sounded something like this...

"Beckley, come here!"

"I mean Buckley!"

"Ugghhhh!"

Beckett walks over!

"Hi Buckett!"

"Oh. My. Gosh! What can't I figure out their names!"

"Bubba's come here!"

Both Beckett & Buckley come to see me! Finally!

How cute are these two? Beckett really loves his Uncle Buck!

Not sure what they are both looking at... but aren't they so sweet!?!

They were pooped by the end of the day! Love these boys!

Firsts...

I was sitting here thinking about what to post about and having a little trouble so decided to go through some pictures for some insipiration.

I looked at a folder of pictures from my first semester of grad school and that was it! Grad school was an amazing time for me. It was the first time I lived by myself, it was the first time I had a real "adult" job, and it was my first time to really be carefree and live life to the fullest! Really, that first year was my first chance to be an adult and I like to think I did pretty awesome at it! Ha! I feel like I changed so much in that first year of grad school, more than I did in the previous four years of undergrad.

I made some amazing friends and met my SABF (San Antonio Best Friend), Amanda. We both live in the Dallas area now so I guess we are DBF's now... I'll let her know!

I also hung out with my future hubby for the first time at a bar called 50/50's. We then went to my house and played board games where I proceeded to kick his booty for the next four hours.

He told me later on that he told his Momma the next day that he met a girl he thought he might marry!

The next weekend we went on our first real date. He took me hiking at Enchanted Rock in the Texas Hill Country. It was beautiful and I was in love! Very quick I know, but I feel like when you know, you just know! :)

Jumping for joy!

I couldn't be anymore thankful that God guided me there and allowed me to meet these amazing people! These firsts will forever be cherished.

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

I'm LOVING cuddling on the couch with this cutie and my favorite quilt! It's still too cold here!

I'm LOVING V8 Tomato Soup. It's so tasty with a grilled cheese on a cold day!

I'm LOVING my Born clogs I got for Christmas! I have hip problems and walking around in DT Dallas in 4 inch heels was killing me! I work with all men so I can't stand wearing flats because I look tiny when I'm with them. So these shoes have been miracle workers! They are cushiony and I can wear comfy socks with them (a major plus in the cold)! Probably not the most fashionable thing in the world, but at this point I really don't care!

And... of course I'm LOVING my sweet hubby! I couldn't have asked for a better guy! He provides for me in every way and deals with all my craziness!

...I found him whom my soul loves...

Weekend Recap

Friday, Jeremy picked me up from work and we went to happy hour at one of our favorite spots. Not sure if there is any better way to end the week than happy hour with my cute hubby, blue cheese nachos, and martinis. I don’t think so!

Saturday, we spent the day with some good friends, Tiffany and Chris. The boys went out and played and rode four-wheelers all day, while I spent the day indoors with Tiffany and cuddled her adorable little girl, Tinley Kay. Once the boys finally got home and cleaned up we headed out to dinner at Texas Land and Cattle. I had their steak soup and it was DELISH!

Sunday, we spent the day at my parent’s house just relaxing and spending time with them. Jeremy and I went running while we were there because their neighborhood has some great trails in it. We took their boxer along with us, it was so fun to run with both the dogs after they got calmed down from the excitement! We did week 5 day 2 and I actually did really well. We will be finishing up week 5 tonight with the 20 minute run! I have been wishing and hoping and thinking and praying about this one! I just know I can do it (or at least that’s what I’m telling myself!).

They weekend was great until Monday morning….

I was supposed to head out to Fort Worth to have lunch with some old coworkers, so I hopped in my car at 10:15 because it’s a little over an hour drive, only to find that my car won’t start. It was making a weird grunting noise along with some clicking. I panicked and proceeded to call Jeremy about 5 times with no answer, then called my dad to ask him what I should do. He was convinced that my battery was dead and that I needed to open the hood to take a look.

Once I figured out how to get the hood open I noticed right away that there was this blue foamy stuff all over one of the connecters to the battery (I don’t know the technical names for these things so bare with me!). My Dad informed me that I needed to disconnect the wire thing from the battery and clean it off; his description did not match what I was looking at all. I’m sure if I knew what I was looking at it probably made perfect sense. So I started scrounging through Jeremy’s tool box and found some tools that looked like they could do the job. After about 30 minutes of trying to unscrew something that never needed to be unscrewed I hit the battery with the wrench (I think that’s what it was) and the wire thing popped off the battery. Positive connection was done and taken apart! YAY!

I cleaned it up and reconnected it and tried to start the car, only to sound even worse than it did before. UGHHHHH!!!

Jeremy had gotten my panicked voicemail and decided to come home between meetings thinking this would be a quick fix… Only to find me sweating and defeated in the garage hitting the battery because I couldn’t get the negative cable off. He had trouble getting it off too (not gonna lie made me feel a little better). At about 12:15 the battery was finally unhooked from everything and we headed to NTB to get it checked out. My dad was right, the battery was completely dead. I was very thankful that was it and it wasn’t some other more expensive problem. We purchased the new battery, felt very accomplished, and then headed home.

We got back to the house and Jeremy tried to put the battery in the car. It would not fit… we jiggled it and pushed it trying to get it to sit in the little tray thing. It wouldn’t budge… So I call NTB to double check that we got the right battery and we weren’t missing anything. The NTB guy assured me it was right. Another 30 minutes of trying to smash that stupid battery in unsuccessfully went by so I called again to have him measure the other battery; he tells me it’s the same size. I get MAD!!! Call the Ford Dealership in town and see what they have to say and it turns out NTB did give us the wrong battery so we headed to Ford to get another battery. Got home, put the battery and it fits like a charm. We (and when I say we, I mean Jeremy did it while I held a flashlight) got it all hooked back up. Four hours later, a lot of cussing, beating the battery with wrenches and my car STARTED! Thank the LORD!

Jeremy had to head back to work so I had to take the first battery back to NTB by myself. The guy that sold it to us acted completely in shock that I was bringing it back and totally inconvenienced that he was going to have to return it. He wanted to know why I just didn’t take the tray out of the car and make it fit! Are you kidding me!?!?!?! He told me he couldn’t return it right now and that it would be a few minutes so I said ok. Then he proceeded to do some busy work while I sat there and glared looked at him. He finally credited my card after about 5 minutes! He didn’t even apologize for the inconvenience or say anything remotely close to the fact that they screwed up! Couldn’t believe how rude he was to me when he made the mistake. I would have been fine if he would have just said sorry… I told him to have a nice day and went on my way! Needless to say I won’t be returning to NTB.

The rest of the day was spent running errands, cleaning, and cooking a special dinner for the hubs for taking care of my car and me! After all the car drama it was so nice to have the afternoon to clean and cook, I’m so jealous of stay-at-home wives! It would be so nice to be able to not have to do that stuff on my weekend and actually have a consistently clean house and a well fed hubby! Maybe someday! A girl can dream, right?

C25K - Week 4

Week 4 is finally done. Thanks to the snow and the temperatures we've been having this week I was delayed in finishing. It actually went a lot better than I thought. I was able to talk while I ran so I figure my body must be getting more comfortable.

Week five should be interesting... Day 3 I have to run 20 minutes straight. I have never done that ever! Pray for me!

Here are me and Beckett excited that we finished week 4 and still have energy to be silly! Don't mind his crazy demon eyes!

Not gonna lie...

This healthy eating business is for the birds...

I decided I really needed to lose weight and that I'm actually going to follow through this time (I've been saying this for about a year now). I don't want to say it's a new years resolution but more of a lifestyle change. I'm definitely moving into my "late" 20's and I just can't eat the way I use to... Boooo! So this week I have really started to follow through.

My diet has consisted of something similar to this everyday:

Breakfast:
- Coffee with cream & sugar (I really just can't give this up)
- Small banana

Lunch:
- Healthy Choice soup
- Low fat yogurt
- Crunchy granola bar

Dinner:
- Salad with romaine lettuce, carrots, yellow tomatoes, & cucumbers with low fat dressing

Dessert:
- Apple
- 2 Tbsp crunchy peanut butter

I've been switching up the soup, dressing, and fruits for some variety, but what I wouldn't give for a cheese burger right now! Everyone keeps telling me this is going to get easier, but I'm hungry! And cold! (that has nothing to do with the diet, but it's adding to the lack of patience and happy moods). I truly understand the saying "Fat and Happy" now. I think once it gets warmer and I can get outside and start running again I'll do better. At least I hope so!

The scale is moving in the right direction thank goodness, otherwise I don't know if I could keep doing this. I've lost 1.5 lbs since last week! Not a lot, but at least there's a visual reflection of what I'm doing.

Top 2 Tuesday

I decided to link up with the undomestic momma and share 2 of my strange addictions. I had a bit of a hard time with this because I think I have several....

1. I HAVE to straighten the sheets and make sure all the blankets are pulled tight before I can get in bed... Sometimes if I move around a lot I'll get up and fix them again! :-/ I just can't stand wrinkles! My poor sweet hubby indulges me and helps me fix them every night before bed!

2. I'm a lil embarrassed to reveal this, but I'm kinda obsessed with teenage girl shows... I love Gossip Girl, 90210, Greek, Pretty Little Liars, and ... Wait for it ... Secret Life of an American Teenager! Eeeek! I DVR all of them and can't wait to watch them on Monday and Tuesday night. Can someone tell me when I'll grow out of this!?!?!

And just an update: I'm in much better spirits today! The hubs comes home today from his short business trip! I also went for a long run with Beckett last night and worked away all those frustrations! Now if it would just warm up! 24 is not an ideal temperature!

It's Monday... and I'm annoyed!

Great way to start off the week right!?!?!

It's FA-REEZING here! It was dang near impossible to get out of bed this morning! Once I did manage to drag myself out from under the covers I wandered into the restroom to go potty before bee-lining it to the shower only to take a seat and fall right in!!!! Why can't boys figure out how to put the seat down? GOSH!

I was feeling much better after the shower and the hubs made up for the potty mishap by having coffee ready for me when I was leaving the house!

I checked the traffic app on my phone before I left and was pleasantly surprised that there really didn't seem to be that much traffic... Which was a MAJOR plus, because if you have ever lived in the south you know that a single snow flurry can shut down an entire city!

The app LIED! I sat in traffic for two hours! Yes! Two hours trying to get to work this morning, only to walk in and my boss tell me I could have worked from home! Ummmm.... thanks.... that information could have been more useful at say 7:15 this morning.... I don't know.... that's just me, maybe???

And to top it off, I'm pretty sure they have not turned on the heat in my office today. Fan-friggin-tastic! Oh and apparently everyone else in my office got the you can work from home memo...

So I'll be sitting here by myself, freezing, and pretending to be my normal chipper optimistic self! Yay!

Happy Monday!

P.S. Sorry for the complaint fest... I guess I woke up on the wrong side of the bed... Actually... I can't lie I pretty much always wake up in the wrong side of the bed...
